Digital X-Rays & Exams

Most of a tooth is somewhere you can't see. Images are how we find the small problems before they become the expensive ones.

What it is

Between teeth, under old fillings, below the gumline and down in the bone — the places decay usually starts are the places an eye can't reach.

Digital images come up on the screen straight away, which means we can turn the monitor toward you and point at exactly what we're talking about instead of describing it.

We take them when there's a reason to, not by default.

What happens when you come in

  1. A few imagesA small sensor, a few seconds each. Tell us if you gag easily — there are ways around it and we've heard it before.
  2. We look togetherUp on the screen, with what we're seeing pointed out on the actual picture.
  3. What it meansWhat needs doing now, what we're watching, and what's fine. Often a lot of it is fine.

This might be for you if

  • You're a new patient and we have no history for you
  • Something hurts and there's nothing visible on the surface
  • It's been a few years since anyone looked under the surface

None of this is a diagnosis — it’s just what tends to bring people in. If you’re not sure whether it applies to you, call and ask.

Questions people ask

Do I need them every visit?

No. We take images when there's a question they'd answer. If there isn't one, we don't.

Can I see them?

Yes, and we'd rather you did. It's your mouth and it's a lot easier to decide about treatment when you can see what we're looking at.

What it costs

We can’t put a number on this page honestly — it depends on your mouth and your plan. What we can tell you is how it works: we look first, we explain what we think you need, and you get the cost in writing before anything starts. We don’t begin work you haven’t agreed to, and we won’t pressure you into treatment you don’t need.

We're out of network with all insurances. We do file your claims as a courtesy, so the paperwork isn't left to you — but what your plan pays back is between you and them, and we won't guess at a number. Bring your plan and we'll tell you what we know before anything starts.

CareCredit and Sunbit are available if you’d rather spread the cost. If you’d like to ask before you come in, call (903) 856-6688.

Ready when you are

We’ll greet you by name, explain things clearly, and never rush you.
